What is ENCOUNTER?

The objective: To encounter the deep presence of God by:

  1. Hearing what He has to say to us.

  2. Experiencing His peace, clarity and holiness.

  3. Slowing down and actively waiting on that “still small voice.”

THE TOOLS OF THE ENCOUNTER EVENT:

Contemplative Bible Readings.

In ancient times, it was called “Lectio Divina”, or “divine reading.”  Slow, careful reading of Scripture, followed by contemplation and prayer.  The goal is to move beyond mere intellectual understanding and allow God’s Word to penetrate the heart and mind, and grow deeper spiritual connection.

Prayers of Supplication.

Supplication is the action of begging for something earnestly and humbly.  The goal of Encounter is to humbly beg for the tangible presence of God Himself.

Contemplative music.

Communing in quiet acoustic worship by; singing along, continuing in personal prayer, or simply listening for God's voice.

The Encounter Event is structured around a series of Readings, Prayer, and Song.  However, the event remains flexible to God’s prompting as He would lead.  The intention is to give ourselves permission, for one hour to do nothing but soak in the presence of God; Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

We encounter the deep presence of God by:

  1. Hearing what He has to say to us.

  2. Experiencing His peace, clarity and holiness.

  3. Slowing down and actively waiting on that “still small voice.”
